"Although I live in Dekalb (transplanted after 34 years in St. Charles), my wife and daughters take advantage of a lot that Rockford has to offer. The RiverHawks are a summer staple as with the IceHogs being our winter entertainment. We shop at CherryVale Mall, even though Fox Valley Mall is closer, because we like the ease of getting in and out. We attend a lot of the large and small festivals that Rockford has to offer and we also enjoy the airport."
Chad Anderson, Dekalb, IL
“Since attending our first Watermelon Tournament with our son's soccer team five years ago, we have been amazed to learn about the little jewel that Rockford is. Your facilities for both soccer and rowing are really first rate!”
Marta Kenahan, Riverside, IL
“Wherever we went in the city we were always greeted with a smile, from the breakfast at Machine Shed to dinner at Old Chicago Pizza to the starter at Elliot Golf Course who kindly let us play for free for the first night because it was getting dark...three days was not enough time to experience all that Rockford has to offer, but we had fun trying.”
Mark Salajka, Washington, MI
“Congratulations on becoming a tourist friendly city...everyone we encountered acted like it really mattered to them that we were there...the available maps and brochures located throughout town really helped...thanks for the efforts Rockford put in to make our trip fun.”
Myron Higgins & family, Aledo, IL
“We really enjoyed our stay in the Rockford area--we did lots of shopping and eating out. I thought you should hear a compliment about the great businesses doing your town justice, and regularly bringing customers, visitors, and money to your local economy.”
Faith Ellis, Department of Education, Pierre, SD
“Just wanted you to know what a pleasure it was to have one of your step-on guides, Sue Crandall, with us during our city tour of Rockford. So, thanks to Sue, we’re already planning our next trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Rockford.”
Pat Storer, Golden Circle Tour, Hoffman Estates, IL
“We thoroughly enjoyed the Coronado, also the hotel was quite something (and so friendly), the Erlander Home, everyone's hospitality and particularly your welcoming and warmth. Sincerely hope to see you again soon! We're safely back in Sweden--the rest of the tour went very well.”
Anne Sofie Von Otter, world-renowned Swedish mezzo-soprano
