The Nordlof Center is a cultural, arts and community resource for the city of Rockford and is part of the Rockford Public Library. Visitors to the 30,000-square-foot facility at 118 North Main Street will find the 280-seat J.R. Sullivan Theater, multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms and the state of the art Wal-Mart Computer Classroom. Funded by a $50,000 grant from Wal-Mart, the computer classroom offers some of the latest technology and software.

Library programming at the Center will include concerts, free computer classes, children’s programs, young adult movie nights and more. In addition, the library will make the theater, as well as its meeting rooms, available for rent to local businesses and organizations.

About the Library -- The Rockford Public Library, founded in 1872 as the second library in Illinois, currently has seven facilities, including the Nordlof Center, Main Library and five Branch Libraries. The Rockford Public Library’s mission is to enhance community life and development by informing, educating, entertaining, and providing cultural enrichment to all people of all ages by collecting information to address the diverse interests of our dynamic community.
