Historic Neighborhood - Indian Terrace

At the turn of the century, neighbor-cousins subdivided their riverfront backyards and created the Indian Terrace neighborhood, naming the street after one of their mansions. This charming neighborhood is unique in the city because of its lake-resort atmosphere. Most homes enjoy river frontage and all are built on small yards with some bordering a quaint roadway called the "horseshoe drive." Rockford's third protected historic district has proudly preserved the original condition of its Arts & Crafts, Prairie, and Shingle Style homes.
