Rich and Chrissie Spanton put their heart and soul into everything they do. That's evident when you tour their Orchard Ridge Farms, a spectacular 130-acre property they opened in 2005 just outside of Rockton, Il.

Orchard Ridge Farms includes a sprawling orchard with 5,000 apple trees raised organically, two ponds, 50 acres of walking trails, a butterfly and bird sanctuary, an impressive wedding pavilion, and a luxury bed and breakfast, ideal for a romantic escape for out-of-town guests. "We built the type of place where we would want to stay," says Rich. "We did everything to the nines."

Rich and Chrissie met in 2003, and got married four years later. He has lived in Rockton for more than 35 years. Chrissie, a graphic designer, immediately took a liking to Rockton when she moved here from Columbus, Ohio. "I love the small-town feel," she says, The couple has a 2-year-old son, Fletcher. "It's an incredible place to raise a family."

The couple worked diligently on the bed and breakfast, called the Copperstone Inn, for nearly three years, before opening in 2009. They gutted and renovated the 1858 Limestone farm home and added 8,000 square feet to the existing property. Much of the original character was saved and carried through into the new addition, thanks to the use of limestone, wood and slate flooring, barn wood siding, tin and copper ceilings and 1800 period furniture.

The Pavilion boasts over 10,000 square feet of rustic, elegant meeting space for weddings, corporate, and non-profit events. The Spantons hosted over 80 weddings in 2014 alone, most of which are from Chicago traveling into Winnebago County.

It's the perfect place for guests to call home, even it it's just for a few days.
