Batter Up at Rockford City Market - Rockford Peaches’ 75th Anniversary Celebrated at the Market

ROCKFORD, IL – This year marks the 75th anniversary of the famous women’s baseball team, the Rockford Peaches. To celebrate, there are a series of events occurring May 30 – June 3 in the Rockford region. One of the main events includes Rockford Peaches Day at Rockford City Market! Special guests including stars from the movie A League of Their Own and original Peaches players will be at the market greeting guests and promoting the weekend’s events. Volunteers will also be at one of the kids’ activity booths providing hands-on activities about the science of baseball.
Participating downtown businesses will also be participating in Rockford Peaches Day on State from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. as Rockford City Market is going on. Businesses will be offering Peaches-themed specials and gifts throughout the afternoon and evening to celebrate the 75th anniversary. Shoppers/diners will also be able to pick up a special punch card at participating locations to get stamped at these businesses to enter to win a $500-value “Peach crate” gift basket.

The International Women’s Baseball Center will offer hands-on “Baseball in the STEAM Zone” activities in the Kids’ Activity Area.
Severson Dells Nature Center will also be promoting getting families outside in nature and a suite of programs for all ages. They will be offering an animal track field guide activity! Severson Dells’ mission is to link people to nature through education and research.
It’s Rockford Peaches Day at Rockford City Market! Stars from the movie A League of Their Own and original Peaches players will be at the market greeting the crowd at the main stage.
Rockford Peaches Day at Rockford City Market is part of the Rockford Peaches 75th Anniversary, a four-day State Bicentennial event from May 30 until June 3, 2018. The Rockford Peaches were made famous in the 1992 movie A League of Their Own.

Three Ravens will be selling ceramics (mugs, cups, bowls, kitchen utensil holders, vases, decorative ware) and oil paintings (photo realism and representational art). Three Ravens is a new pottery studio/gallery and classroom. Pottery classes are available as well as commissioned works. The gallery is open to the public year-round on North Main Street downtown.
DOWNTOWN BUSINESS BOOTH
Minglewood will be at the market in the Downtown Business booth. Minglewood is located at 333 E. State Street and is a boutique featuring fair trade or made in the U.S.A. organic cotton and sustainable fiber fashions store. Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 18 through September 28 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day.
