City Market Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend

ROCKFORD, IL – The Rockford area kicks off Memorial Day weekend with the second Rockford City Market of the season taking place this Friday, May 26, 2017 in downtown Rockford.
Activities and events including crafts, live music, and entertainment continue this week with all ages in mind. Guests will once again be available to continue in delighting in the new tastes and goods offered at the market from the 13 new vendors joining the Rockford City Market.
The market is open every Friday till September 29 rain or shine. The hours of the market are 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day, and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day.

Main Stage: Fred & Ginger, an acoustic duo playing an eclectic mix of music from the 1960's through today, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Romanian Dancers from Rockford's Sister City of Cluj-Napoca, 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.
Acoustic Stage: Timberpoint, local blue grass band, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Cherry Valley Public Library will be offering free activities while promoting their Summer Reading Program that begins in June. Children will also be able to enjoy making free animal masks and tree cookie necklaces at the Natural Land Institute booth. Midway Village Museum will also offer free crafts and host Romanian Dancers from Rockford Sister City of Cluj-Napoca. They will be available with information on their performances this weekend.

Shelter Care Ministries will be educating guests on their work in the community and upcoming events.

Horseflower’s Creative HotSpot/Kandinsky’s Creative Group will host a booth showcasing a variety of art pieces including paintings, glass art, pottery, and live spoken word.

Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 19 through September 29 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day. Rockford City Market was founded and is managed by the Rock River Development Partnership and operates with infrastructure support from the City of Rockford and marketing from the Rockford Area Convention & Visitor's Bureau.
