Four Additional Works of Public Sculpture to be Installed in Downtown Rockford, Wednesday, June 17

In addition to the five sculptures recently installed in downtown Rockford as part of the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Public Art Initiative, four new sculptures are to be located downtown as well. The four sculptures, created by artists Hans Van de Bovenkamp ( and Boaz Vaadia (, will be on loan to the community for one year.

"Public art enhances and transforms civic spaces. These additional pieces will compliment those installed in May. Collectively they enhance downtown Rockford and enrich our community for the next year. We are extremely grateful to the artists for generously loaning their works of art to this first-of-its-kind public art installation in Rockford," said John Groh, RACVB President/CEO.

Installation will take place Wednesday, June 17, 2015, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

1) 100 block of North Main Street, landscaped beds

3) Eddie Green Park, corner of E. State and 1st Street
4) Esplanade along the west bank of the Rock River between State and Jefferson Streets.

Patterned after the successful Seasons of Sculpture in Sarasota, Fla, ( the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will bring world-class sculpture to downtown Rockford in 2015, with a long-term goal of creating a program that installs sculptures each year on a rotating basis.

 RACVB leads the effort with support from and coordination by the Arts in the Parks Group, Sanders Design Group, the City of Rockford, Rockford Art Museum, Rockford Park District and Behr Iron & Metals.
