Midway Village Museum, Rockford’s history museum, will be at the market this week offering a sock monkey craft project. The fun craft relates to Rockford history and the John Nelson Knitting Company that manufactured the red-heeled work sock – a sock made popular by the Sock Monkey doll, a cherished toy throughout many generations.
The Rockford Public Library will also be at the market promoting their summer reading program. They will be signing people up for summer reading and have crafts and coloring sheets related to their summer theme, Reading Takes You Everywhere.
The International Experience will be welcoming guests at the gates this week. They are a nonprofit youth organization for students interested in a unique immersion experience. Students in the program become fully immersed in a new culture to improve language skills, create lifelong friendships, boost personal confidence and develop a deeper appreciation of the world we share.
