Public Sculptures to be Installed Throughout Downtown Rockford Wednesday, May 20th

What: Installation of five sculptures, part of the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's recently announced public art initiative, will occur this week. The five sculptures, created by artists Hans Van de Bovenkamp ( and Boaz Vaadia (, will be on loan to the community for one year and installed throughout downtown Rockford.

When: Wednesday, May 20, 2015, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

1) East State and 3rd Streets (both sides of the street)
2) East State and North 2nd Streets
3) South Main and Elm Streets
4) Esplanade along the west bank of the Rock River between Jefferson
and State Streets.

Why: Patterned after the successful Seasons of Sculpture in Sarasota, Fla, ( the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will bring world-class sculpture to downtown Rockford in 2015, with a long-term goal of creating a program that installs sculpture each year on a rotating basis.

Who: RACVB leads the effort with support from and coordination by Sanders Design Group, the City of Rockford, Rockford Art Museum, Rockford Park District and Behr Metals.
