New City Market Set to Open
This summer, on June 11, the community launches the new Rockford City Market - a public market along Water Street in downtown Rockford between State and Jefferson Streets.
The Friday afternoon market will feature local growers and vendors selling natural products including vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, and healthy snacks, as well as artisans with unique offerings and live performers. This market creates new reasons for residents and visitors to come downtown. And, those who work downtown are invited to remain in the heart of our city during the late afternoon and evening hours.
The driving force behind the City Market is a desire to continually create a more vibrant, active downtown. The market aims to establish a regular tradition that draws people to the heart of our city. Producing the market is a collaborative effort led by the Rock River Development Partnership, managed by On the Waterfront, Inc., with support from River District Association, Rockford Area Economic Development Council and the visitors bureau. It is through this type of collaborative process that we are changing the future of the Rockford Region.
