Rock the Market is Back this Friday - Extended shopping and entertainment at Rockford City Market

ROCKFORD, IL – Rockford City Market’s annual “Rock the Market” night will return this Friday, July 6, 2018. Continue your 4th of July celebrations with extended hours from 3:30 – 10 p.m. for more entertainment and shopping. Musical entertainment will include two artists performing on the Main Stage this week along with students from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Institute performing on the Acoustic Stage. Shopping through the booths is always a must at City Market. Don’t forget to stop by P & T’s Custom Apparel & Backyard Games to pick up your unique bags/cornhole set to challenge your friends and family this weekend.

 

Is your home ready for entertaining guests? A quick stop at Wanderlust by Kate has everything you need to brighten a room from wooden shelves, signs and planters to wine racks. Be sure your home is smelling fresh by visiting The Candle Kiln. Here you will find more than just soy candle mason jars. They also have all-natural soaps, essential oil blends, and even bug repellants!  Just one visit to Rockford City Market will prepare you for the weekend of gatherings ahead.

ACTIVITIES

Y Kids Time will be offering sparkly firework rings and painting fireworks with forks. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the YMCA of Rock River Valley serves 50,000 people through six area branches and 22 area schools for its Kids’ Time program. The Y is committed to nurturing the potential of every child, supporting their social-emotional, cognitive and physical development from birth to career.  

 

Rock River Chess is a chess organization based in Rockford, IL. Their mission is to provide fun, friendly, and safe places to play chess casually and competitively in the Rock River area. Rock River Chess will have several chess sets out for everyone to stop by and play quick, casual games of chess. They will also have awards for those who want to play some more competitive blitz chess against their club members!

 

ENTRANCE GATES

Children’s Home and Aid will be welcoming guests at the gates this week. The organization will be spreading the word about the tremendous need for foster parents in our area and highlighting all the work Children’s Home and Aid does to support youth in the community.

Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 18 through September 28 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day. Rockford City Market was founded and is managed by the Rock River Development Partnership and operates with infrastructure support from the City of Rockford and marketing from the Rockford Area Convention & Visitor's Bureau.
