Rockford City Market Opens for 9th Season - New Vendors Added to the Market

ROCKFORD, IL – Rockford City Market returns to Downtown Rockford on Friday, May 18. The market will welcome 19 new vendors to the market on opening day. The new vendors include 4 Sisters Organic Farm, 808 Cheesecake, Allyn’s Gone Bananas Bakery, Bar None, Bear Moon, Candle Kiln, Curry Bowls, DT Fancy Frank’s, Idle Hour Maple, Mohop, Ms. Mint’s Pop Shop, Olive Branch Greek Food Truck, P and T’s Backyard Games, Pewter Dragonfly, Red Thirteen, Shady Tree Farm Market, Thrive Café, Why Envy? Boutique, and Willrett Flower Co.

These new vendors offer a wide variety of unique offers at the market. Several options of produce will be available from 4 Sisters Organic Farm and Shady Tree Farm Market, while several other vendors such as Curry Bowls and Olive Branch Greek Food Truck will be selling specialized ready-to-eat prepared food. Market shoppers will also be able to enjoy new items at the market like popsicles from Ms. Mint’s Pop Shop and salads and juices from Thrive Café.

All of these new vendors add to the spectacular list of returning vendors and market favorites. Woodfire Brick Oven Pizza, Very Cute, Candle Crest, The Cheese People and JavaMania Coffee Roastery have been vendors at the market since the first year of Rockford City Market in 2010. On opening day on May 18, there will be 65 total vendors at the market, compared to only 16 vendors on opening day in 2010.

Midway Village Museum
will be offering a Rockford Peaches craft for the kids as well as a micro tour of the recently installed Rockford History Walk. The Walk will start at 5:30 p.m. and a guide will showcase some of the history in the River District using the signs as reference points of interest. Bring your walking shoes! Maps will be available at the booth showcasing all the locations. 

Rockford Lutheran will also be offering free face painting from its High School Ambassador Club. Rockford Lutheran School begins in preschool and ends with students acquiring college credit. They walk with families as young people develop and mature. Making a choice for Lutheran is making a choice to bring a full range of educational opportunities to a child’s educational journey.

Hammy from the Rockford IceHogs will be at the market getting hockey fans excited about the IceHogs’ playoff run! The IceHogs are going into round 3 of the Calder Cup playoffs and will be facing the Texas Stars at the BMO Harris Bank Center on May 22, May 24, and May 25 (if needed). 

Rock Valley College Starlight Theatre will be at the market gates. This summer, Starlight is celebrating its 52nd season. Come join them this summer under the stars! The theater is promoting their great upcoming shows including Shrek the Musical, Anything Goes, Cinderella After the Ball, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Jane Eyre.

Mercyhealth will be celebrating May’s Stroke Awareness month with public education regarding stroke prevention, recognition, and available treatments. Mercyhealth Hospital – Rockton Avenue is home to the region’s first and longest-running neuro-interventional program treating highly complex stroke cases. Come visit the booth at the market to learn more about their Advanced Primary Stroke Center and Interventional Radiology Departments. They are located at the corner of Market and Water Street. Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 18 through September 28 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day.
