Rockford Region to Welcome Illinois High School Association for 23rd Consecutive Year -- Tournament visitors to spend an estimated $100,000

- The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) is pleased to welcome the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Bowling State Finals back to the Rockford region for the 23rd consecutive year. This two-day tournament returns to the Cherry Bowl in Cherry Valley on Friday, February 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The top four bowling teams with the highest pin count for both rounds in the sectional competitions advance to the IHSA state final tournament. There are a total of 24 teams and 30 individual bowlers competing in this tournament. Nearly 740 bowlers, coaches and spectators will be in attendance and are projected to spend an estimated $100,000 while visiting the Rockford region.

The enthusiasm and positive energy at the Cherry Bowl during this two-day event truly shows the dedication from the bowlers' friends and families traveling here to support them," said John Groh, RACVB President & CEO. Local team qualifiers participating include Belvidere (North) and Guilford. Local individual qualifiers participating include athletes from Harlem and Hononegah.

9:00 a.m. Coaches Meeting (Head and/or Assistant Coaches only)
9:15 a.m. Opening Ceremonies
9:30 a.m. Warm up for Round 1
9:45 a.m. First Round (24 teams and 30 individuals)
12:15-1:15 p.m. 60 minute lunch period
1:15-1:30 p.m. Warm-up for Round 2
1:30 p.m. Second Round begins (24 teams and 30 individuals)
3:30 p.m. Second Round completed

8:00 a.m. Door open to competitors in the Bowling Chair Class and their coaches ONLY
8:30 a.m. Doors open for 2nd day qualifying teams, individuals and their coaches
8:45 a.m. Coaches meeting/Doors open to the general public
9:00 a.m. Introductions
9:15 a.m. Warm up for Round 3 and Bowling Chair Class
9:30 a.m. Third Round (12 teams and 30 individuals) and Bowling Chair Class
12:15-1:00 p.m. 45 minute lunch period
1:00-1:15 p.m. Warm-up for Round 4
1:15 p.m. Fourth Round (12 teams and 30 individuals) and Bowling Chair Class (approximate time)
4:00 p.m. Awards ceremony (immediately following round 4)
