Shop The Blocks During Rockford City Market
Bringing Community Together for Entertainment and Fun!

ROCKFORD, IL – The first Shop the Blocks begins this Friday, June 2, 2017 during the Rockford City Market. Shop the Blocks seeks to bring together the community to come out and experience the unique shopping experiences in Downtown Rockford, while these small businesses offer sidewalk sales and specials on each 1st Friday of each month. Not only do attendees get to experience Shop the Blocks, but they also get to experience the Rockford City Market and the activities available to all ages!


The market is open every Friday till September 29 rain or shine. The hours of the market are 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day, and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day.


Rockford City Market on June 2


Main Stage: Mark Reed & Waddy, an acoustic rock and blues group offering live music and good times, 4:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Acoustic Stage: The Shufflers, covering acoustic light rock songs, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.



Discovery Center Museum will be offering a Fish Print Craft while promoting their new traveling exhibit, "Hello from Japan" which opens on Saturday, June 10th. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be offering a free paper lantern craft as well as coloring activities to help promote their Light the Night Walk which funds research to help find cures and ensure access to treatment for all blood cancer patients.

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden will be promoting their 2017 Garden Fair, which is this weekend, June 3 and 4th. They will be offering discounted admission tickets at their booth on South Water Street.

Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from May 19 through September 29 along Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets in downtown Rockford. The market runs from 3:30 – 8:30 p.m. before Labor Day and 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day. Rockford City Market was founded and is managed by the Rock River Development Partnership and operates with infrastructure support from the City of Rockford and marketing from the Rockford Area Convention & Visitor's Bureau.
