Meet Nick Sommer, Go Rockford Sales Intern
Nick is part of the 2022 intern team at Go Rockford. He recently graduated from Wichita State University and is back to his hometown to live, work, play and make a difference in the community. He is currently working in the Sales department helping to assist with tournaments and events hosted throughout the Rockford region. He also makes weekly rounds to visit our local media partners to share all the fun things happening in the community. It's great to have someone so driven and outgoing on the team this summer!

Q. Why do you enjoy living in the Rockford region and working for the RACVB?

A. I love the Rockford region because of the many great places there are to eat, the outdoor facilities I can explore and the rich family heritage here. My family runs the bowling centers in Rockford (Don Carter Lanes, TheCherry Bowl, Forest Hills Lanes, Park Lanes, Viking Lanes). I love the community of Rockford and general Midwest kindness and togetherness that is found in Rockford at its core.

Q. What is your favorite thing to do/place to explore when you’re not working?

A. I love to hike and backpack through state parks, and I am an avid bowler. Bowling is in my blood and is what put me through college. I also love to play disc golf in my spare time.

Q. Where is one of Rockford’s hidden gems, according to you?

A. One of Rockford’s hidden gems is definitely Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens. I know it really is not hidden by any means but I love that it's so easily accessible for people in town to really experience the tropics all year round.

Q. How do you and your family enjoy spending time outdoors in the region?

A. I love to spend time at the state parks like Rock Cut State Park, fishing in our lakes and running through our downtown.
