75th Anniversary Exhibit - Rediscover Burpee

Additional Information

Burpee Museum of Natural History will host the grand opening of the Rediscover Burpee exhibit on Friday, November 11, 2016. The exhibit will run through mid-April 2017.

Rediscover Burpee, a new exhibit celebrating the 75 year history of Burpee Museum, is an opportunity for the community to rediscover the treasure trove of artifacts, specimens, and memorabilia in the museum collection alongside newly developed exhibits. Visitors will go back in time to see what makes Burpee Museum a local treasure and unique among the country’s best natural history museums.

The three-part exhibit will also highlight the work of Edward Curtis, a world famous ethnographer from Wisconsin known for his sepia-toned photographic images of Native Americans. The display will be complemented by many seldom seen Native American artifacts from the Burpee collection.

The third segment of the exhibit is a unique array of wildlife from around the world. “Go Wild” is a wildlife conservation exhibit that depicts some amazing animals in lifelike settings. One of the highlights is the return of the crocodile. This gigantic specimen was a museum favorite in the Barnes Mansion for many years. In addition, the museum will display the artwork of a renowned local nature photographer, David Olson.

Come and experience the new exhibits at Burpee. Museum hours are 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday – Sunday. During the time the 75th Anniversary exhibit is up, Museum admission will be $10 for Adults (13 and older), $9 for children (4 -12), children 3 and younger are free.
