The City of Rockford, Friends of the Coronado Foundation, and the Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment Authority announce the first free-to-the-public world-class performance since the community came together in 2000 to save and restore Coronado theatre.
This performance will feature world renowned Alvin Ailey II Dance Company. Ailey II is universally known as the country’s best young dance talent and most outstanding choreographers. Fans of So You Think You Can Dance will be astounded by the energetic and exciting choreography. These young Ailey members knew they could dance and here they are touring the world with the most prestigious dance company.
All ages and generations are encouraged to attend and share this experience at the community’s Coronado Theatre.
The next morning, on November 12 at 10 a.m., all 2,200 RPS 4th Grade students will come to the Coronado to see Ailey through the FOC Reach for the Stars project at no cost to the students or schools -- including transportation. This, combined with the free performance the evening before, will mean 4,000 community members will see a special performance at the Coronado in 48 hours.
