The 34th Annual Arny Johnson 10-mile and 5K run will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Harlem High School. The 10-mile run starts at 8:30 a.m., while the 5K run starts at 8:40 a.m. The event is hosted by the Rockford Road Runners with proceeds going to Annie's Locker.
The first 600 participants receive Arny Johnson Hat and Finisher Medal
The 10 mile runners will follow the scenic Willow Creek Path into Rock Cut State Park beginning at 8:30 a.m.. Runners begin in front of high school and take the path that runs south of school into the state park. They will circle the park clockwise on the paved road and return to the high school on the Willow Creek Path. The 4.2 miles around Pierce Lake in Rock Cut are gorgeous and hilly. Walkers will begin at 7:30 a.m.
The 5K runners/walkers begin in front of high school exactly 10 minutes after 10 Mile runners. They will follow Willow Creek Path south of school towards the park. The course is a fast, flat out-and-back on the Willow Creek Path.
Directions: Harlem High School - 9229 N. Alpine Rd. - 1 Huskie Circle, Machesney Park, IL 61115 - From I-90/I-39: Exit at IL-173 and go west to Alpine Rd. Turn left on Alpine. Harlem High School is just south of 173 and on the east side of the street. From the west on U.S. 20: Go north on Meridian Rd. to Latham Rd. Turn east on Latham, which will become Ralston Rd. and IL 173. Follow 173 to Alpine and turn south to the high school.
