Operation Recreation allows members of the military to receive special discounts on select Rockford Park District admissions, program registrations, and more.

Special Events

Veterans Memorial Tribute - Loves Park City Thursday, November 9, 2017 - 10-11 a.m.
The invocation will be delivered by Reverend Bobby Sheets of Riverside Community Church, Machesney Park, and the keynote speaker will be Rick M. Kolberg, Retired Sergeant First Class (SFC), United States Army; Program Manager/Peer Mentor, The Oscar Mike Foundation

The program will include Presentation of Colors and 3-Shot Rifle Volley by Clifford E. Johnson VFW Post 9759. Music will be provided by the Harlem High School Wind Ensemble and Choraleers. At the end of the program, everyone will be asked to adjourn to the Field of Honor Veterans Memorial, located just north of Loves Park City Hall, for a short wreath laying ceremony.

Thank You, Veterans Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, 1354 N. 2nd St., Rockford, IL - Friday, November 10, 2017 - 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Veterans admitted free of charge to enjoy the 11,000-square-foot plant exhibition area complete with water features, seating areas, and sculptures, all in a tropical plant setting.

Rockford Park District Golf Courses - Saturday, November 11, 2017
Golf - Free greens fees and cart rental for veterans and active military members at any course still open for the season on that day. Check for current course openings at www.golfrockford.com.

Veterans Day Patriotic Skate & Play - Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park, IL - Saturday, November 11, 2017 - 1-3 p.m.
Skating - Veterans and members of the military ice skate free of charge. Immediate family members’ admission $3 including skate rental. For non-military, $5 admission including skate rental
Sapora Playworld - Admission for children who are immediate family of military members - $3

Who is Eligible
Active duty, active reserve, veterans, retired military and immediate family members are eligible to receive discounts. Immediate family members include your spouse and children under age 18. Extended family members and guests are not eligible. Other exclusions apply (see website)

How It Works
Show your valid military ID at any Rockford Park District facility to receive a discount. Or you can make receiving discounts easier by visiting a Rockford Park District Customer Service location to receive a Operation Recreation Discount Card. Simply present this card at RPD facilities to receive your discounted rate.
