Rockford Park District’s award-winning two-mile scenic walk and organized tour along the Rock River Recreation Path is held once a month June-September, 2021, on select dates (weather permitting) from 10:30 am until noon, departing from outside the Nicholas Conservatory entrance, 1354 N. Second St., Rockford, IL. The tour features 16 sculptures, some of which are works by local artists, and many of which were donated to the Park District.
Scheduled sculpture tour dates for 2021 are Thursdays, June 10, July 8, August 12, and September 9. The tours are intended to connect people with the art along the Rock River Recreation Path, and the Rockford Park District, in cooperation with Rockford Art Museum and the Art in the Parks Committee, is committed to providing high quality public art for the community to enjoy, contemplate, and explore. Walking shoes and a bottle of water are recommended, and participants should dress for the weather.
Additional works of art can be viewed inside the Conservatory, where daily admission fees apply. Scheduled group tours are also available; to reserve a scheduled group tour time, call Nicholas Conservatory at 815-987-8858. For more information, visit www.nicholasconservatory.com.
