Celebrate the arrival of spring at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens as you experience the magical world of butterflies!

Enjoy being surrounded by live butterflies in the tropical conservatory, and see the whole butterfly life cycle in action as you view butterflies emerging from their chrysalis in the emergence area. Experience the beauty of native and exotic tropical butterflies!

Regular admission rates apply to this exhibit.

Sensational Saturday: Build a Birdhouse
Saturday, March 17, 2018 - 12:00pm - 12:45pm and 1:00pm - 1:45pm
Stop in to learn about the different types of bird houses and the species that prefer them. Then grab a hammer and build a nesting shelf for the robins, cardinals, and blue jays in your neighborhood. Instructions, materials, and tools will be provided!
Program is designed for children/families, but all ages are welcome! Included with Nicholas Conservatory admission (Free for NCG members).

Sensational Saturday: Magnificent Microscopes!
Saturday, April 7, 2018 - 12:00pm - 12:45pm and 1:00pm - 1:45pm

Come to the conservatory for an afternoon of magnification! Learn the different parts of a microscope and how they work. We'll also use them to look at different items collected from around the gardens!
Program is designed for children/families, but all ages are welcome! Included with Nicholas Conservatory admission (Free for NCG members).

Nicholas at Night: What's Brewing with the Butterflies?
Saturday, April 7, 2018 - 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Did you know some butterflies prefer to drink fermented fruits? Join us for lots of fun for the whole family! Butterfly activities include a butterfly obstacle course, butterfly and moth selfie station, and native plant seed ball making. Prairie Street Brewhouse will be on hand for beer samples for adults and root beer for the kids!
Included with Nicholas Conservatory admission (Free for NCG members)

Sensational Saturday: Buzz About Bees

Have you ever wondered what goes on in a bee hive? Fly on down to NCG and find out! We'll learn about bee jobs, bee communication, bee products, and bee safety. Examine beekeeping equipment, taste some local honey, and make a project that will have the whole room buzzing!
