Celebrate the natural wonders of winter with a fun and unique outing in a beautiful setting as we head out to Hononegah Forest Preserve for a Snowshoe Hike. Have some fun in the snow, meet some new people, and learn the ins and outs of the fastest growing winter sport. If we do not have snow, we are still gonna go! We just hike then. Some much needed outdoor time is in order after surviving the holidays and getting back to normal!
The 2-hour adventure starts with some basic instruction where you will learn how to put on and take off your snowshoes, select the proper snowshoes, how to get up from a fall, select a comfortable stride for walking and stomping, and turning around. Then we enjoy the trails at Hononegah. After the hike enjoy a bonfire courtesy of the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County and some hot chocolate. If we do not get snow, we are still going to hike.
The price for this adventure is $25 and includes snowshoes, poles, basic instruction, and a guide. For kids needing youth snowshoes (fit shoe sizes ranging from Youth 11 to Adult 5) the price is $12.50. We can accommodate 24 Adults and 10 Youth for this experience.
To register, call 815-636-9066 or sign up online.
Please wear hard sole boots. Dress in layers. Bring water or something to drink for yourself.
We need a minimum of 6 participants and the cooperation of Mother Nature to hold the snowshoe event. In the event Mother Nature does not cooperate or we fail to get the minimum amount of participants we will make a decision 24 hrs in advance. We will post on our Facebook Page and call all participants. If we cancel due to weather, you can choose to get a refund or move your reservation to another event.
