The South Main Mercado is a new outdoor market, serving south Rockford, and the Rockford community. It started as an idea to showcase the Hispanic/Latino Community and has grown into a larger community event that will hopefully continue for years to come. This event is made possible by the generous support of the City of Rockford, the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and SWIFTT.
The Mercado will take up the entire Heritage Museum Park, as well as the adjoining parking lot. It will be filled with a variety of local retail vendors (jewelry, clothing, art, more), food trucks, and a variety of community partners, especially those who office bilingual support and service. Live Entertainment includes local musicians, such as, Tito Cevallos, Mosaico Cultural de Rockford, and Estilo 815! This event is meant to highlight the beauty (and importance) of south Rockford. It will be a way to open the neighborhood and its businesses, up to the rest of the community. It will be a fun and engaging way for the community to interact with local small businesses.
