What’s your best advice for someone experiencing their first winter in Rockford?
Rockford events don't slow down just because it gets a little cold! Bundle up for Stroll on State in November, the Norwegian's Snømarket in December, Snow Sculpting in Sinnissippi Park in January – all fun events throughout the colder months to check out.

The outdoor live music in the summertime – there are so many unique venues offering it, I find it hard to fit them all in each summer!

Start at Social for a cocktail then head to Abreo for a delicious dinner. Post-dinner maybe swing by The Music Box for some live music.
One hidden gem in the Rockford area that you’d recommend?
During the summer, you have to take in a Ski Broncs show on the River!
What’s your favorite thing about the Rockford community?
I like to call it a small big city – you don't have to look too far to find so many connections.
If you had a free day in Rockford, what would you do?
I'd start with brunch at the Norwegian (you cannot go wrong with their any of their quiche flavors), then I would take my kids to Discovery Center (their favorite!)…probably end at a spot downtown or along the river.

Rock River Rec Path + all the local parks with my kids…did you know the Rockford has one of the largest park systems in Illinois with 178 parks and facilities?!?!

Crust and Crumbles on Madison – I have never met a pastry I didn't love from this spot!
Best way to get involved in the community?
Volunteer – there are so many great non-profit organizations and passionate people involved with each of them. I've found it to be a great way to meet people and learn more about different areas in the community that I might not otherwise.
