Description: Jhoole Weavers features photography by Rockford native Hannah Warren of the Jhoole Weaver's Cooperative, as well as gorgeous textiles produced by them. Jhoole (pronounced ju-LAY) is a branch of a local grassroots NGO, Chetanya Sewa, which supports women's development, elderly care, the eradication of child labor, and the promotion of health in scheduled caste and tribal villages. Jhoole's fair-trade initiatives help fund Chetanya Sewa's social programs and promotes the upward mobility of skilled female artisans, as well as the female laborers (mazdur) stuck at the bottom of the supply chain. Jhoole currently offers recycled denim skirts, dresses, crushed cotton scarves, custom embroidered dresses, and table runners. Proceeds from purchases of photographs, cards and fabrics will benefit both Jhoole and Womanspace.

Description: The Rockford Midwestern is a biennial juried exhibition that originated as an annual showcase for local artists. Description: Book by Tom Key and Russell Treyz (based on Clarence Jordan’s book The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John. Music and lyrics by Harry Chapin. This musical dramatization of the Gospels of Matthew and John uses modern Southern vernacular to tell one of the oldest stories of the Western world. Mary Davidson’s son, Jesus, is born in an impoverished trailer park in Gainesville, Georgia. The story ends with his Good Friday lynching and Easter Sunday victory. Folk rock legend Harry Chapin wrote a score which matches the play in beauty and originality.

Description: Most Americans are aware of what life was like for Black people before the Civil War. The African American Gallery's, "African American Life Post-Civil War" will spotlight life after the Civil War, showcasing items used and owned by African Americans from the mid-1800's to the early 1900's. On display will be several items on loan from Dr. and Mrs. Robert Head. Dr. Head is the first African American president of Rockford College. The Rockford Public Library has donated to the museum a notebook-format reproduction of "African Americans in Rockford - Lincoln's Era," the original exhibit that the library's Adult Services Department created in 2009. It is based on the book African Americans in Early Rockford, 1834-1871, by John L. Molyneaux. Group tours can be arranged by contacting the museum.

Description: Join Ann Whitney on her trip to the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge has been called a "Barren Wasteland" by some, and the "American Serengeti" by others. It is the wildest place left in America. Three airplane rides and 85 miles of river rafting later, she can definitely tell you it is not a barren wasteland. It is teeming with life: birds, butterflies, bugs, flowers and mammals. The presentation will include many of the over 350 photos of this unique wildlife refuge taken along the way and will show the dynamic spectacle that takes place during the 24 hour daylight of the short arctic spring and summer. Description: Leonard Bernsteins dream of an international, young professional orchestra inspired conductor Justus Frantz to form the Philharmonia of the Nations. Since 1995 Frantz has gathered highly talented young musicians from over 40 countries and five continents. Their common language is music. Jon Nakamatsu will perform the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #3. His musical career was launched when he was named Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1997.
