Description: Jhoole Weavers features photography by Rockford native Hannah Warren of the Jhoole Weaver's Cooperative, as well as gorgeous textiles produced by them. Jhoole (pronounced ju-LAY) is a branch of a local grassroots NGO, Chetanya Sewa, which supports women's development, elderly care, the eradication of child labor, and the promotion of health in scheduled caste and tribal villages. Jhoole's fair-trade initiatives help fund Chetanya Sewa's social programs and promotes the upward mobility of skilled female artisans, as well as the female laborers (mazdur) stuck at the bottom of the supply chain. Jhoole currently offers recycled denim skirts, dresses, crushed cotton scarves, custom embroidered dresses, and table runners. Proceeds from purchases of photographs, cards and fabrics will benefit both Jhoole and Womanspace.

Music and lyrics by Harry Chapin. This musical dramatization of the Gospels of Matthew and John uses modern Southern vernacular to tell one of the oldest stories of the Western world. Mary Davidson’s son, Jesus, is born in an impoverished trailer park in Gainesville, Georgia. The story ends with his Good Friday lynching and Easter Sunday victory. Folk rock legend Harry Chapin wrote a score which matches the play in beauty and originality.

Description: Most Americans are aware of what life was like for Black people before the Civil War. The African American Gallery's, "African American Life Post-Civil War" will spotlight life after the Civil War, showcasing items used and owned by African Americans from the mid-1800's to the early 1900's. On display will be several items on loan from Dr. and Mrs. Robert Head. Dr. Head is the first African American president of Rockford College. The Rockford Public Library has donated to the museum a notebook-format reproduction of "African Americans in Rockford - Lincoln's Era," the original exhibit that the library's Adult Services Department created in 2009. It is based on the book African Americans in Early Rockford, 1834-1871, by John L. Molyneaux. Group tours can be arranged by contacting the museum.

Directions: Exit I-90 at US Business 20 (E. State St.): west 6.5 miles to IL 2 southbound (Church St.). Turn left on Church three blocks to the MetroCentre on the left. Park in the ramp on the right and in nearby lots and ramps. From the south: Follow Bypass U.S. 20 to IL 2 (S. Main St.) and exit north. Follow IL 2 to the downtown area. The MetroCentre is one block west of IL 2 (on the left) after IL 2 becomes one-way on Wyman St. Park in various lots and ramps on Wyman. From the west, follow Business 20 to the downtown and turn south one block on Church St. From the north, follow IL 251 to US Business 20 and turn west or follow IL 2 (Church St.) to the downtown as above.

Description: RSO will perform Sir Malcolm Arnold's Four Scottish Dances, which celebrates the rich and varied folk dances of the British Isles. Next the RSO welcomes the piano virtuosa Chu-Fang Huang to perform Camille Saint-Saëns' second concerto, a piece inspired by Felix Mendelssohn, whose Scottish Symphony concludes the concert.

Description: Tours of the Cottage will be offered free of charge with Docents available in each room to talk to visitors about Victorian Valentine Day traditions. A "make your own" pop-up Valentine workshop will take place in the Tinker Visitor Center Community room between the hours of 12 noon and 4 pm. Punch and cookies will be served and information regarding Tinker membership opportunities will be available.

Directions: Via State Street, Business 20: Take E. State Street into Downtown Rockford, continue on E. State Street to Winnebago, turn left onto Winnebago and continue to the Tinker Swiss Cottage sign. Turn left into the Tinker driveway. Parallel parking is available along side the road or visitors may continue past the Visitor Center and Cottage to the main parking lot. From Bypass 20, take the Main Street exit and head north on South Main Street to Kent Street. Turn left onto Kent and go one block and turn right into the Tinker Parking Lot.
