A Holiday Celebration in Downtown Rockford!


"Merry and Bright: a downtown holiday" returns on November 29, 2014 with Stroll on State! Stroll on State is a spectacular holiday event to attend with your family and friends to get you in the holiday spirit. There are plenty of activities to do, decorations to see, and delicious food to eat at this event to celebrate the holiday season downtown. 

When: Saturday, November 29, 2014
Time: 4 - 9 p.m.
Where: Downtown Rockford along East State Street
Cost: Free!

Every volunteer is needed and every volunteer helps bring joy to our city. If you would like to be one of those volunteers, please CLICK HERE to sign up. Stroll & Downtown Tree Lighting
5:30PM - Stroll line-up (City Hall)
5:45PM - Stroll begins
6:15PM - Downtown tree lighting (PNC Bank Plaza)

Light Up the Tree Concert - Awe & Wonder
Create memories with family and friends as we count down, light the Christmas tree and experience the Awe & Wonder together. (With special guest Mo Pitney)
6PM - Concert begins (PNC Bank Plaza)

Ice Skating
Enjoy the dazzle of skating under the twinkle lights in a Winter Wonderland with Luxe Productions DJ music.
4 - 9PM - Skating and DJ music (State & Main St.)

Real. Original. Holiday Pop-Up Shop
Purchase Real. Original. Rockford gifts from some of the area's top attractions as well as hot chocolate from Rockford Roasting Company.

Holiday Movies
Watch some holiday classics as they run continuously inside the Nordlof Center.

Train & Letters to Santa
Warm up and write letters to Santa and pretend you're the conductor of a special holiday train (bring your cameras!).

Hammy & Hamboni
Meet Hammy from the IceHogs and see the Hamboni in person (bring your cameras!).

Visit Santa, live reindeer, and elves from Santa's workshop and experience the magical moments of SantaLand!

Watch as ice sculptors make ice come alive and lights create magic.

Horse and Wagon Rides
You're in good hands as Allstate helps you up on the wagon to travel "Over the River and to the Christmas Tree."

"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" Movie
Enjoy the 1966 classic cartoon, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" outside.
4 - 9PM - Outdoor movie (S'Mores station #2)

Holiday Market Shopping & FROSTYLAND by lisA fRosT
In City Hall, shop Lisa Frost's latest holiday designs and meet the sparkly Frostettes. Don't miss Holiday Shopping with local vendors inside Chase Bank and Stewart Square too! Chase Bank will also feature music by sonicbloom, and Stewart Square will feature barbershop quartet Bethel Male Chorus and Road to Rome. (See below to view all vendors.)
4 - 9PM - Indoor shopping (City Hall, Chase Bank, and Stewart Square)

Fire & Ice Display 
The ambience is amazing as fire lights up the ice. Hear the crackle and smell the wood burning.
6:30 - 9PM - Entertainment display (2nd & State St.)

S'Mores stations
Enjoy the warmth of a fire and let us toast your marshmallows.
4 - 9PM - $1 each (across from RRStar lot & on State St. between Madison & 1st St.)

Stroll bars 
Enjoy beer, warm wine, and Kringle at several bars along the stroll route. If you're under 100 years old, please show your ID. Santa says, "What's purchased outside stays outside, and what's purchased inside stays inside." All proceeds will pay for lights and decorations for this year's Stroll on State.
