Breweries  

Nestled along the scenic Rock River, the historic Prairie Street Brewing Co. is home to delicious craft brews, a killer taproom, and the original Rockford beer, the Nikolob – known as the beer that made Milwaukee jealous! They host a summertime concert series known as Dinner on the Docks, so you can enjoy views and tunes while you enjoy a hoppy brew. Rockford’s first brewpub, Carlyle Brewing Co., opened its doors in 2003 and is located downtown. 

If you’re vegan, we recommend the award-winning Pig Minds Brewing Co. (Don’t worry – this curiously named beer and food joint has been described as a “vegan wonderland.”)

Other delicious brewpubs and beer hubs include Urban Forest Craft Brewing, Crazy Llana Brewing Company, the Olympic Tavern, Rural on Tap, Ernie's Midtown Pub, Tavern on Clark, and Aero Ale House.  

Wineries 

But what about the vino, you ask? Fear not, because Rockford has you covered there, too! DC Estate Winery is conveniently located just minutes off I-90 in a picturesque park-like setting. It offers a romantic Tuscany-inspired backdrop, where true pleasure is found in quality wine, beautiful scenery, and warm hospitality. Featuring a beautiful outdoor pavilion and an inviting tasting room, DC Estate is the perfect venue for celebrating remarkable special events or enjoying a relaxing weekend afternoon. Visitors can delight in delicious wines while taking in the serene views of the tranquil pond and vineyard. 

Distilleries 

Craft spirit-making has seen a boom across the Midwest, and Barnstormer Distillery on Main Street is a must-stop for spirit lovers. This “farm distillery,” grows its own vegetables, fruits, berries, and herbs for use in their spirits. The location is scenic and secluded and offers a unique experience to see the distillation process first-hand.
