Approximately 75% of the overnight stays influenced by the Convention & Visitors Bureau are generated by sports tourism. But as our competition grows and new facilities are being constructed, we know now is the time to invest in our sports infrastructure if we are going to regain the business we've lost, retain the business we have, and grow the amateur sports tourism market.
The Reclaiming First initiative will make way for improvements to Mercyhealth Sportscore One, Mercyhealth Sportscore Two, the Indoor Sports Center (ISC) at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two, as well as the current redevelopment of the former Ingersoll building into a new downtown sports complex, UW Health Sports Factory, on the beautiful Rock River. The new indoor sports facility (currently under construction) will allow us to capture a greater share of the sports tourism market, making way for sports such as basketball, volleyball, wrestling, dance and more. The upgrades to Sportscore 1, 2, and ISC will add additional lighting, turf fields and other improvements that will make these facilities shine among our competitive set.
