Why: The Puri Cup has been hosted in the Rockford Region since 2012.

“We always look forward to hosting one of the area’s largest soccer tournaments, especially one that has become a tradition for so many families,” said Louis Mateus, General Manager of Mercyhealth Sportscore Complexes. “However, this week’s significant rainfall required us to adjust game locations because several fields at Mercyhealth Sportscore One are unplayable due to saturated conditions. Situations like this highlight the growing need for turf fields, which provide consistency, reliability, and the ability to keep events on schedule regardless of weather. Thanks to the turf fields at the Rockford Park District’s newly renovated Clarence Hicks Sports Complex, along with strong partnerships with Rock Valley College and Rockford University, we were able to accommodate teams and maintain the integrity of the tournament. Events of this scale bring hundreds of athletes and families to our community and serve as an important economic driver for the region, reinforcing the value of continued investment in high-quality, all-weather athletic facilities.”

“The Puri Cup has been a staple event in the Rockford region for more than a decade, thanks to the continued leadership of the Rockford Raptors,” said Lindsay Arellano, GoRockford vice president of sales and service. “It’s a highly anticipated tournament that draws clubs from across the Midwest year after year. We love seeing our community come alive with thousands of athletes and families, and the strong economic impact this weekend brings to the region.”
