Spooktacular at Anderson Japanese Gardens
If you’re looking for a Halloween event that’s fun, festive, and just the right amount of spooky, Spooktacular at Anderson Gardens is a great way to celebrate the season. Held at the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, this family-friendly Halloween experience is all about trick-or-treating and enjoying the fall colors at one of the city’s most scenic attractions.
Every October, the gardens transform into a perfect Halloween experience, complete with costumes, candy stations, and fall activities. Kids (and grown ups) are encouraged to wear their best costume and stroll the garden’s many paths, where trick-or-treat stops are tucked between bridges, koi ponds, and trees showing off their fall colors. It’s one of the best Halloween events in Rockford IL, especially for families with young kids.
In addition to trick-or-treating, you can stop by craft stations and take photos in the pop-up spooky graveyard. Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Center will also be on-site, providing kids with the opportunity to see owls, ravens, vultures, and other animals up close. You’ll also want to check out the Path of Pumpkins, a glowing walkway of decorated pumpkins submitted by students from local schools
