What: GoRockford and partners are gearing up to put Stroll on State’s and Downtown Holiday Decorations “Back in the Box”. Volunteers are needed to help with taking down Christmas lights, garland, ornaments, the City of Rockford Christmas tree, packing away giant presents, and other various tasks. Come dressed for the weather; most work is outdoors.
When: Date: Saturday, January 10, 2026
Time: The two volunteer shifts will take place from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Volunteers can sign up to help during one or both shifts.
Location: Check in at Santa’s Workshop at 310 South Winnebago Street in Rockford, IL

Why: Stroll on State, presented by UMB Bank, serves as the official kickoff event for the Rockford holiday season, which is comprised of numerous events and activities. The event is produced by GoRockford and made possible through the support, services, and generosity of community partners, sponsors, and volunteers. Who: All skill sets and abilities are welcome. Volunteers between the ages of 12 and 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers that are 16-17 years old must have a signed waiver by parent or guardian.
