GoRockford is now accepting nominations for its annual Hospitality Hero Awards, recognizing outstanding individuals in the region’s hospitality industry who go above and beyond to deliver exceptional visitor experiences. These awards highlight the vital role hospitality professionals play in strengthening the local economy, enhancing the Rockford Region’s reputation as a welcoming destination, and supporting a thriving tourism industry.
GoRockford will present the awards as part of its celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week, taking place May 3–9, 2026. Now in its fourth year, the Hospitality Hero Awards will continue to honor the individuals who make Rockford and Winnebago County a memorable place to visit.
Hospitality workers play an essential role in the travel and tourism industry, shaping experiences that turn first-time visitors into repeat guests—and often into new residents. Their dedication drives economic impact, supports local businesses, and creates jobs across the region. In Winnebago County alone, tourism supports 4,687 direct jobs within the hospitality industry. National Travel and Tourism Week provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate these individuals whose daily efforts fuel the industry and contribute to the vibrancy and continued growth of communities like Rockford.
Nominations are open through April 20 and can be submitted online at gorockford.com/hospitality-heroes. Submissions should highlight individuals who have made a meaningful impact on the travel and tourism experience in Rockford and Winnebago County and include a brief description of why they deserve recognition. Examples include a hotel staff member who creates a welcoming stay for guests, a server who delivers outstanding service, or a bartender who makes visitors feel at home. One individual will be selected from each of five categories.
Award categories include:
- Entertainment/Sports Venue
- Attraction
- Hotel
- Food and Beverage
- Retail
All nominees must work in the hospitality industry within Winnebago County. GoRockford will announce winners throughout National Travel & Tourism Week via its social media channels. Each recipient will receive a gift card, an award plaque, and a Rockford-themed basket in recognition of their contributions to the region’s tourism industry.
“We’re proud to recognize the hospitality professionals who make the Rockford region a welcoming destination,” said John Groh, GoRockford President/CEO. “Their dedication and commitment to service play a vital role in creating memorable visitor experiences, encouraging return visits, and strengthening our local tourism economy.”
