This largest-in-the-nation women's collegiate volleyball tournament is expected to bring an estimated $135,000 to the region

WHAT

The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) and Rockford Park District (RPD) are pleased to welcome the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Opening Weekend Tournament (OWT) to the Rockford region on August 20 - 22, 2021.

There are 650 registered athletes, 150 coaches and 1,200 spectators anticipated to be here. Teams will visit from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Florida and Texas. This is an opportunity for media to conduct interviews and take photos at this elite All In Volleyball sports tournament that will fill approximately 240 hotel room nights with visitors projected to spend an estimated$135,000 while visiting the Rockford region.

WHY

“Working with the Rockford Park District and Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau has been a pleasure. We appreciate all their expertise as we plan this large-scale volleyball event in the Rockford region. It’s reassuring to know that we can completely rely on each of these organizations and know with confidence that we are in great hands as we visit for the weekend,” said Kyle McCall, McHenry County College head volleyball coach. “This is going to be a great tournament for all players, and we’re thrilled to learn more about all the region has to offer.”

General admission is $8/day, for seniors $5/day and children under 12 are free. This tournament will also be streamed live at FloVolleyball (https://bit.ly/37Qcrrm). This is the largest volleyball tournament in the country for community colleges. Volleyball officials are traveling from around the country for training and professional development opportunities. Since this is a high caliber event, the Big Ten Conference has identified this tournament as an official Line Judge Training site. The tournament is providing fundraising opportunities for the Guilford High School boys volleyball program, the Harlem and Winnebago High School girls volleyball programs and the Rockford University men’s volleyball team.
