FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: November 6, 2023

What:   The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) is pleased to announce a partnership between Embassy Suites Rockford and Midway Village Museum to launch a Rockford themed memorabilia exhibit inside the Embassy Suites. The remarkable collaboration celebrates Rockford’s unique history.

Set to be unveiled on Thursday, November 9, the exhibit is housed inside four display cases and tells stories of Rockford’s rich past. Featured historical artifacts include items from Rockford Peaches, sock monkeys, Amerock and downtown Rockford.  Items were provided by Rockford’s history museum, Midway Village Museum and will remain on display indefinitely with periodic changeouts and updates.

When:  Thursday, November 9, 4 – 7 p.m. Unveiling at 5:30 p.m.

Where:  Embassy Suites Rockford, Tower Kitchen & Bar 416 S. Main St. Rockford, IL 61101

Why:    The Embassy Suites has its own rich history as it is on the National Register of Historical Places. Originally the Ziock Building, built in 1913, it was home to many manufacturing companies, the most recent being Amerock, but was left vacant and unused for years. In 2020, Gorman & Company brought new life to the space as the Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford Riverfront & Rockford Conference Center. Today it is the only hotel in downtown Rockford, providing visitors and guests with a view of the beautiful riverfront.

“This historical addition promises to be an enlightening and entertaining journey into Rockford’s past,” said Salvador Morales, General Manager of Embassy Suites Rockford.

Other: Admission is free to the event. Rockford themed food and drink specials will be available for
purchase and there will be a Rockford Peach themed photo station. Champagne toast provided for those on site at 5:30 for the unveiling.
