What: The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) and local partners are gearing up to put downtown holiday decorations and Stroll on State ‘Back in the Box’ after another incredible year. Volunteers are needed to help with taking down Christmas lights, garland, ornaments, the City of Rockford Christmas tree, packing away giant presents, and other various tasks. Volunteers should come dressed for the weather; most work is outdoors.

When: Saturday, January 6, 2024

Two volunteer shifts will take place from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Volunteers can sign up to help during one or both shifts.

Sign-up to volunteer at: www.strollonstate/volunteering or just show up the day of  -advance registration is not required but helpful in planning work for the day.

Location: Volunteers should meet at Santa’s Stroll Workshop, located at 310 South Winnebago Street in Rockford, IL                                             

Why: Stroll on State, presented by Illinois Bank & Trust, serves as the official kickoff event for the Rockford region’s “Merry and Bright” holiday season, which is comprised of numerous events and activities. Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau produces the annual event with the support, services and donations of many community partners, volunteers and sponsors. Volunteers help to decorate downtown for the holidays, and for Stroll on State, and are also needed to put all the decorations “back in the box.”

Who: All are welcome!  Volunteers between the ages of 12 and 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers that are 16-17 years old must have a signed waiver by parent or guardian.
