Trinity Rucker was named Rockford’s 3rd Youth Poet Laureate in 2024. With this recognition, she hopes to bring happiness to people all over, whether it be with poetry, singing, prayer, preaching, or acts of kindness. She credits her relationship with God for her happiness, peace, and blessings.
She is incredibly grateful for all of the opportunities and support she has received and thanks her friends, family, Washington Park Community Center (as well the UKUU program), and other organizations and individuals who have supported her.
Additional accolades include:
- Winning an honorable mention in the 7th Annual Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Contest of Illinois
- Getting accepted by Kim Myers Applause Rising Talent at The Arts (2021)
- Accepted to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum, exploring STEM at a college of her choice for a week (2022)
- Her poem YEARS AND YEARS was published in a chapbook (2023)
