RACVB Partners and Friends,

At least for a while, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) will continue to disrupt our work, leisure activities and local businesses that we value and love. But, resolute in the face of our current crisis, Rockfordians are famously welcoming, hospitable and resilient. Please be vigilant about doing what you can to help your neighbors, family and friends while living a healthy lifestyle—washing your hands and sanitizing surfaces along the way. If you go outdoors for a neighborhood walk, a run, a hike, or a bike ride—please do so with social distancing at top of mind.

In the midst of today’s unprecedented challenges, our community’s top priority remains the safety, health and well-being of our residents and visitors. By leveraging its many communications platforms, the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) is here to help keep all of our local partners and residents informed amidst the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. RACVB will continue to monitor updates related to COVID-19, sending out pertinent information via subsequent e-blasts, across all GoRockford social channels and this Resource Center.

Some recent community updates and reminders include:

  • RACVB’s main office and visitors center (102 North Main Street, Rockford, IL 61101) is closed to the public. All RACVB staff remain available by phone and email but are working remotely until further notice to help mitigate risk. Staff contact info can be found here.
  • All non-essential businesses are closed as we are under a statewide shelter-at-home order. However, our local restaurants and bars are offering drive-through, carryout and/or delivery services, and local retailers are still fulfilling online orders and shipping. Please check with each individual business for more information.
  • The Winnebago County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is working tirelessly to deploy all resources in combatting the spread of coronavirus. In addition to the vast online resources, the EOC is available to answer public inquiries by calling 815.319.6705 or emailing covid19@wchd.org.

Please join us in being wise about the decisions we make. It is important to stay informed, be prepared and know that the actions taken on a federal, state and local levels are to help flatten the curve with the intent of slowing the spread of this virus. As this situation evolves, we will continue to update you and encourage you to reference the additional resources below for best practices to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Thank you and stay healthy.
