Fall is the perfect time to get on the water and explore the beautiful colors! From rivers to ponds, being on the water is the number one way to view the beautiful fall foliage in the Rockford region!

One of our favorite local spots includes Pierce Lake at Rock Cut State Park. Rent a kayak, canoe, paddle boat or SUP board and see the trees from a different perspective.

You can also view the fall colors and see the city skyline by paddling on the Rock River in downtown Rockford. Gear up and head out with the help from Rocktown Adventures. They’ll transport your kayak or canoe to and from the river, allowing you to show up, paddle, relax and take in the beautiful views.

And don’t forget the Sugar River in Rockton! Hop in a tube (if the weather allows) or rent a kayak from Sugar River Adventures and let the water take you through beautiful woods and some of the most serene and unspoiled spots in northern Illinois.

Grab a life jacket and a waterproof case for your phone and head out on the water to see some pretty amazing fall colors. You’ll be so glad you did!
