Famous Females of Rockford

History and social studies have always been my favorite subjects in school. Rockford has and is producing so many accomplished, upstanding citizens. Look up any list of “famous people from Rockford, Illinois.” the list is so long with people from all different professional fields it will make your head spin. George Santayana is credited for the famous quote “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” However, in regards to these seven famous Rockford ladies, I would be honored to follow in their footsteps.

Do you think it's insignificant that even Jesus' first miracle was the transformation of water into wine? I think not! Even Christ himself was a proponent for wine and who can blame Him. I can't really imagine getting through a week, or life itself without wine. Once you begin your love affair with it you'll find that it's more than just an alcoholic beverage, wine becomes a lifestyle. As you drink and study, your knowledge of this delicious substance evolves and you'll always find yourself learning something new about its complexity.

Artistic Dreams in Snow

Over the last weekend of January, the Rockford Area celebrates winter via the annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition. With two divisions, the adult State Competition and the Rockford Area High School Competition, teams are challenged to sculpt their artistic dreams in three to four days from either a 6'x6'x10' block of snow for the State Competition, or a 4'x4'x6' block for the high school competition.
