Pink in the Rink Night - Rockford IceHogs

Monday, January 29, 2018 1:00 PM by Tyler Yomantas

I have been to more Rockford IceHogs games in my life than I can recall. As a kid, I was brought along to these games on the weekends, often following my sister's hockey practice or games. So throughout the years, I have been on and off following the IceHogs and the Chicago Blackhawks. It wasn't until last season, and mostly this season, where I started paying a bit more attention to our local team. Attending multiple games this season, I can say this is a team worth watching.

Hiking Through the Rockford Region

Thursday, March 23, 2017 10:00 AM by Tyler Yomantas

This past week I was in Rockford for spring break; I didn’t have a lot planned besides seeing a few people, and overall becoming a couch potato. Other than that, I was itching to get outside and hike, and for anyone that knows the Midwest in March the weather can be rather unpredictable, with this week’s weather ranging from the mid-teens to the high 40s, but that was not going to stop me.

Tyler's Best- A Month of Photos in Numbers

Thursday, July 21, 2016 2:58 PM by Tyler Yomantas

Its been just under a month since I did my last photo blog, it is very difficult to wrap my head around what I have done over the last month. So I'm going to give you some numbers

The Rockford Speedway, for the first time in its 69 years of competition has been converted from a paved surface to clay for the "Outlaw Clay Classic." When I first heard about this event a couple months ago, my first thought was "that sounds dangerous, and fun to shoot... Sign me up!"

Tyler's Best - Craving The View

Thursday, June 23, 2016 2:51 PM by Tyler Yomantas

Hello Everyone!

Oh boy, it's been awhile, it's great to be back though, and sharing my photos with the people who look/read this blog. Since it's been awhile and I skipped a week, this blog will feature images from 2 weeks ago as well.

When you hear about a famous band that came out of Rockford, Illinois, you obviously think of Cheap Trick. Then who is someone else impacting the music industry? Most people you ask wouldn’t know the answer, and some might give you something along the lines of Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts or another local favorite like Derek Lutrell, but how many would think of The Color Morale?

Tyler's Best- Thinking about the subject

Thursday, June 2, 2016 12:00 PM by Tyler Yomantas

Hello everyone!

For this week's photo blog, I wanted to show the focus that's been in the back of my head for a few weeks -- making cleaner images. With my photography background mostly in photojournalism and landscape photography, I find the two styles (particularly in how the photo is executed) often clash.

Hello everyone, I'm Tyler Yomantas! I just started at the RACVB as a summer marketing intern and photographer. I have lived in the Rockford area all my life, and I graduated last year from Guilford High School. I am currently a student at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design pursuing my BFA in photography. I have been a photographer for just over 7 years.

My first blog features some of my favorite photos from the past week from events such as: the live interview with WGN featuring Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and Mayor Larry Morrisey, along with a Press Conference for Rockford Sharefest, Landscaping for Forest City Beautiful, Tough Mudder (shown above), and the Rockford Marathon.
