Stroll on State Goes Back in the Box

Friday, January 3, 2020 2:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

There are some people who take their Christmas decorations down in a timely manner after the holidays. And then there’s me. There are some years where I get my tree and decorations packed up and put away a week or two after Christmas, but most years my decorations linger a little longer. I look at them and think, “Oh I’ll put things away this weekend.” But then the weekend comes and goes, and the decorations are still up. Halloween is the one night a year where kids (and even adults!) can dress up to be anything they way to be. I fondly remember my Halloween costumes as a kid including Snow White, Princess Jasmine, and a '50s girl in a poodle skirt. Usually after Halloween, our costumes would end up in my parents' basement closet, ready for whenever my sisters and I wanted to play dress up. But what if I told you that kids in the Rockford region can wear their costumes for more events than just Halloween?

Tough Mudder was held in Rockford for the first time in 2016. Out of pure curiosity, I went to watch the event that first year and was completely entertained and mesmerized by all of the participants. So much so that I signed up for the next year. Gulp.
