Tough Mudder was held in Rockford for the first time in 2016. Out of pure curiosity, I went to watch the event that first year and was completely entertained and mesmerized by all of the participants. So much so that I signed up for the next year. Gulp. Here are the 5 things I learned from participating in Tough Mudder in 2017.

Father's Day the Rockford Way

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 2:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

Father’s Day is right around the corner and it’s time to celebrate dads! My dad has done a lot for me growing up…everything from helping me figure out what’s wrong with an appliance, squishing spiders when I’m too scared (even to this day!) and teaching me how to do things like drive a car (or motorcycle…thanks Dad!).

Tour de Roo 1 Year Anniversary

Wednesday, May 9, 2018 3:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

It’s been one year since the RACVB team took our love for Beefaroo and created the Tour de Roo! That’s right. We mapped out all of the Beefaroo locations in the Rockford region and planned to visit all of them in one day. It’s crazy, I know…but we did it! In honor of its one-year anniversary, I’m going to give you the lowdown on what visiting all 7 Beefaroo locations in one day is like. (Spoiler alert: it’s epic.)

The Last Stretch of Winter

Monday, February 26, 2018 2:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

The sun is out, the weather is warm, and spring is on the horizon! This happens every year, though. We have a couple days where the temperature is above 50 degrees, and we think "spring is here!"...but then it's back to 30 degrees and winter. But fear not! The Rockford region offers plenty of helpful ways to get you through this last bit of winter.

Go Go Rockford Go Guide

Friday, January 5, 2018 11:00 AM by Elizabeth Miller

I've designed several booklets while I was in college. Although I was really proud of each of those projects, there's only so many people who actually get to see all of your hard work...a.k.a. professors, classmates, and parents. So being the graphic designer of the RACVB's brand new Rockford Region Go Guide is a big deal for me because not only will my coworkers (and parents) see it, but hopefully so will the rest of the Rockford region and beyond!

Twinkling and Shining

Thursday, December 21, 2017 3:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is looking at all of the light displays throughout the city. I don't have to go far to see some spectacular displays...some of my neighbors REALLY get into the decorating spirit. But there are a few places I make sure I visit at least once before the holidays are done. If you have family in town and are looking for ways to "wow" them, it's guaranteed that a stop to one of these local light displays will be a shining success!

Shopping Rockford This Season

Thursday, December 14, 2017 4:00 PM by Elizabeth Miller

We’re less than two weeks away from Christmas so we’re down to crunch time for holiday shopping. My husband and my family are all really good at giving lists early so people have enough time to shop. And then there’s me. I’ll try to come up with a list, and eventually give up or get side tracked until I get asked again.

2017 4th of July Cheat Sheet

Tuesday, June 27, 2017 11:00 AM by Elizabeth Miller

Where did June go?? I blinked and all of a sudden, we're coming up to 4th of July festivities in the Rockford region! I won't complain...it's a fun holiday in the area! It's an easy holiday to love. Cookouts, parades, live music, being surrounded by friends and family...plus one of the only holidays where it's totally normal to wear a suit that looks like an American flag (yes, I know people that have worn this).
