This week we celebrate National Travel & Tourism week. This nationally recognized week highlights the important role the travel and tourism industry plays in our local, state, and national economies.

Locally, tourism directly impacts over 3,000 jobs and indirectly impacts 15,000 jobs. In 2011, tourism brought approximately $300 million dollars into our local economy!

Statewide, over 291,000 jobs are related to tourism. Illinois tourism is one of the state's largest employers.

We don't take these numbers lightly. We work to promote the Rockford Region as a destination because we love our community. But we also strongly believe that tourism is a necessity for the economic development of our region, as well as the State of Illinois!

Happy National Travel & Tourism Week!
