Very special guests stopped to hang out with us in the Rockford Region this past May. The Emmy award winning series, Check, Please! camera crew and lovely host, Catherine De Orio came to visit - well, not only visit - they had a purpose!
This show takes people on cultural and culinary adventures discovering delicious eateries in unique cities. Social Urban Bar & Restaurant was the featured eatery in Rockford for their special episode airing tonight on Chicago Public Television/WTTW Channel 11 at 8 p.m. called, 'Touring Illinois'. You can also watch it on their website. Be sure to tune in to learn about who we are in Rockford and get a sampling of what makes our city so incredible. Rockford was one of only five stops the Check, Please! crew made on this particular trip! While our guests were here Dr. Bob Thukral took them around exploring some of his favorite local spots including; Social, Anderson Japanese Gardens, Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens, Sinnissippi Recreation Path, Rockford Brewing Company, Sinnissippi Golf Course, Coronado Performing Arts Center and JR Kortman Center for Design.
I always talk about the importance of collaboration and this is a perfect example of how it can work so well! I was thrilled when I heard that Rockford would be featured on one of my favorite shows. Of course it's fun to see my hometown on television, but that's not the only reason for my happiness. It's because our local business owners work SO INCREDIBLY HARD (and that's an understatement) to provide the highest quality experience for their guests and it's nice to see when others get to celebrate their achievements too.
Thank you to Chicago Public Television/WTTW, the Illinois Office of Tourism, Dr. Bob and Susan Thukral and all partners affiliated with the making of this great episode. It was a lot of fun seeing it come together.
