When I am at school all the way in Minnesota, I find myself missing many local spots that make Rockford feel like home. That includes food, events, venues, and even something as simple as a building. As a Rockford native who has lived here for 20 years, I believe I have come up with the perfect guide for anyone who hasn't gotten the chance to tour this beautiful city. From amazing coffee to free activities this guide is ready to fill your day. There truly is something for everyone here, and these are a few of my all-time favorites. I also hope these recommendations can become household names for visitors and Rockford residents.

Meg's Daily Grind

Meg's Daily Grind is a local coffee shop that has been open since 2001. It is a family-owned corporation and local only to the Rockford area. Meg's coffee never fails to give me the energy I need for my day and help fuel my mornings. They have a wide variety of pastries, coffees, smoothies, and teas. Any drink you could want Meg's has it.

Meg's is super special to me as I worked there for 5 years. So, I can confidently say that their coffee is made fresh for you. They bake everything in the morning and grind their own beans right in store at 5 a.m. An order that everyone should try is the iced status macchiato. Overall Meg's is where all visitors should go right when they get into town.

Edgebrook

After getting your coffee and pastry, it's time to go shopping. Edgebrook has a wide variety of shops and activities that can appeal to all. Some of my favorite stores include B Jones and Eurostyle +. These are both clothing stores that have great brands. B Jones also has fine jewelry that can last a lifetime.

After you're done shopping, or in my case spent all my money, it's time to go enjoying an activity. My favorite are their wellness activities. They have Sattva Yoga Spa, Avalon Bodyworks-Wellness Care, MK Nails Spa, and Luxe Head Spa/Japanese Head Spa to choose from. All of these places offer amazing services that allow your mind and body to relax.

Sandwich Spot

Once the shopping and wellness activities are done, it's time to get some food. The Sandwich Spot is a perfect option for lunch. Not only are their sandwiches super fresh and taste amazing, but customer service makes you feel like a regular the moment you walk through the door. To top it all off, its prime location right off the river which means you can enjoy your meal with a gorgeous waterfront view or grab your food to go for a stroll along the riverwalk.

Sinnissippi Park

As it gets to the afternoon one of my favorite activities, I enjoy doing with my friends is playing pickleball at Sinnissippi Park. It is about an eight-minute drive from the sandwich spot. They have amazing facilities and their six pickleball courts are nestled right into the park's vibrant greenery, which gives you an inviting feeling. So, no matter if you're coming with one person or six there is room for all. It is a great way to get active but also enjoy quality time with your favorite people.

Prairie Street Brewing Co.

To end the night and your night in Rockford you must stop at Prairie Street Brewing Co. They offer a variety of food for all to enjoy. From quesadillas to burgers their menu has it all. My personal favorite is the turkey club and cheese curds. Prairie Street Brewing Co. has a selection of local beer that they brew right in the restaurant, that many Rockford natives enjoy.

If the weather is nice outside, I enjoy sitting on their patio. It has a perfect view of the Rock River, and you can see all the boat traffic while you dine. If you happen to be there on a Monday night from 6-9 pm you can enjoy live music on the dock. It is the perfect night activity.

Rockford is an amazing place and has a lot of fun to offer to anyone. No matter where I am, I always find myself missing these places and more. You can find anything from a spa to a sports facility here in Rockford. If you're looking for an amazing weekend or day trip, Rockford is the place to be. I count down the days until I am back home in the 815 for summer and can get or see my all-time favorite things. I hope you enjoy these recommendations and have the most amazing day in the most amazing city.
